National Geography is 'celebrating' 9/11 today with an 'appropriate' title. 10 Years of Osama's terror. all day today.
Title put me in thought . whether it is a continuous terror for 10 years or just 10th anniversary of terror. If it is the first one, Just for a curiosity, what title Nat geo would select for Iraq, Libya.. if they are to make an episode of ongoing terrors in these countries!.
Indians, Muslims, americans, japanese, australians... Nat Geo interviewed a spectrum of people from different cultures who all unite in the saddest moments of the greatest country. hurtening to see the crying mom, wife, old dad... of those died.
But! why India is so numb. We struck again and again. and still our worries are undermined. # years before when mumbai got under the clenches of terrorrists, I remember i was to return to kolkata after a neck surgery. On the way to Airport, taxiwala commented, " madam, pouchega ki nahi, iska koi thikhana nahi hai.." But mumbaikars were all on move. i reached airport safely. After boarding Flight, it got delayed for 1 hr for unknown reasons. technical delays .. air hostess claimed. May be the attitude of that beautiful lady, that people did not shout for the delay and waited patiently. we saw through the window that the Commandos were taken in to helicopters for a strike. that was in fact the technical delay. The person sitting behind me, [i could not see him properly as my throat was aching and was unable to move my head.] were on phone continuously till the flight took off saying how thankful he was to God. and to someone else he ordered,'2 ghantein mein pouchega. badiya ghana bana dena, socha nahi aur kuch kha paoonga..' he was one of the survivor of the terror attack, a lawyer from kolkata. arriving on Kolkata airport, Media people were waiting to get any details of the attack.
The fears and worries have gone in a day or two. We are leaning back and seeing the fluctuations in Gold price. Kasab is breathing easily still..
Voice raise in Tamilnnadu to realease the Assassinators of Rajiv gandhi and we heard Omar abdulla speaking for Afzal Guru... are we awake? what is this happening?
terrors, terrorirsts, corruption poverty pollution are taking ride on one side and on other we are fighting among ourselves. Bengali, Non Bengali, hindustani, south indian!!! Do we deserve to stay together as one country??
for our decades long sufferings if we feel at least 10% of that americans feel for their 10 year terror, we will progress much more as Indians.
